Wawang Lake has had a thriving year with HUGE walleye and northern pike that have been caught and released by our anglers. We can attributed this resource sensation to Wawang Lake Resort’s Catch and Release program started by us many years ago.
How the program works is simple – if its big it goes back into our waters. This program has been so successful we can actually chart the progress. We keep detailed information – pictures & data that is uploaded to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) http://www.ontarioanglerawards.com and if you look at the historic annual entries you will notice that Wawang Lake Resort shows the most photos of any other participants in the program. We believe in proving what we say.
This year we are way ahead in maintaining trophy walleye and northern numbers and have seen the numbers pour in everyday from our guests it should be safe to say that we can attain our position of #2 with OFAH for this year with possibly pushing for #1. We try – very hard to provide this information to our guests & anglers and methodically document each and every trophy fish they report to us.
